York United FC Signs Rising Star Cameron DaSilva: A Bold Move for 2025 and Beyond
York United FC is proud to announce the signing of Canadian defender Cameron DaSilva, marking another strategic addition to their 2025 roster. The 22-year-old center-back from Bowmanville, Ontario, joins the squad on a one-year guaranteed contract, with exciting club options for 2026 and 2027.
A Rising Talent with a Championship Pedigree
DaSilva, who honed his craft with Simcoe County Rovers in League1 Ontario, has been making waves in Canadian soccer. During his two seasons with the Rovers, he was instrumental in their 2023 Men’s Premier Division title win and was crowned Men’s Player of the Year in 2024 for his stellar performances.
Reflecting on his new chapter, DaSilva shared his excitement:
“It’s a privilege and a blessing to sign with York. The club has a great vision, and being able to represent my home city is amazing. Training with the team last season gave me a glimpse of the passion and determination here, and I’m excited to build something special with this group.”
A Homegrown Pathway to Success
DaSilva represents a new wave of Canadian talent flourishing through a well-structured domestic development pathway. Starting his soccer journey with Ajax FC and Darlington Soccer Club, he later joined the Toronto FC Academy at just 11 years old. He also showcased his potential on the international stage, representing Canada in the 2017 CONCACAF U-15 Boys’ Championship in Florida.
“This is a great step in the right direction for me,” DaSilva noted. “My time with Simcoe County Rovers, working with mentors like Julian de Guzman, Doneil Henry, and Peter Raco, was incredible. It shows the growth of soccer in Canada, and I’m thrilled to be part of this new era where young players are getting real opportunities to shine.”
York United’s Ambitious Vision
DaSilva is the latest addition to an already dynamic off-season recruitment strategy by York United. The club has also announced the arrivals of defender Riley Ferrazzo, attacker Adonijah Reid, and midfielder Gabriel Bitar, alongside the return of several key players from the 2024 squad.
Club president Ricardo Pasquel expressed his enthusiasm about DaSilva’s signing:
“Cam joined our training sessions towards the end of last season, and it was evident that he had the talent, strength, and composure we’re looking for. He’s a smart player with a commanding presence and fits perfectly into our vision of promoting young Canadian talent. With humble and hardworking additions like him, we’re confident about building on last season’s successes.”
What’s Next for DaSilva and York United?
As DaSilva prepares to don the Nine Stripes, fans are eagerly anticipating his contributions to the squad. With a clear focus on developing homegrown talent and building a team capable of delivering on the pitch, York United FC is making bold moves to ensure a competitive and exciting 2025 season.
