Marco Bustos Returns to Pacific FC: The Tridents Welcome Back CPL Star

Pacific FC has officially announced the return of fan-favorite forward Marco Bustos on a guaranteed contract through 2026. The dynamic attacker, a key figure in Pacific’s 2021 CPL Championship-winning squad, is back to bolster the Tridents’ attack after two successful years in Sweden’s Allsvenskan with Värnamo.

The 28-year-old Bustos previously scored 15 goals in 63 appearances for Pacific FC between 2020 and 2022. His return comes alongside defender Kadin Chung, another standout from the 2021 championship team, signaling Pacific FC’s ambition for the upcoming season.

“Marco brings incredible motivation, ambition, and high standards to our team,” said James Merriman, Head Coach of Pacific FC. “With over 200 professional games under his belt, he’s a proven leader entering his prime.”

Bustos spent the past two seasons in Sweden, scoring three goals in 37 appearances. Before heading overseas, he made his mark as one of the Canadian Premier League’s top players, beginning with Valour FC in 2019 and continuing with Pacific FC during the COVID-affected 2020 season.

A native of Winnipeg, Bustos began his soccer journey with Garden City CC and FC Northwest before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy at age 15. He made his professional debut for the Whitecaps in 2014, with stints in Mexico’s Zacatepec FC and the USL’s OKC Energy. Internationally, Bustos has earned six caps for Canada’s Men’s National Team and has also represented the country at U-17 and U-20 levels.

“Bustos wants to win and play his best football, and we are thrilled to have him back at the club,” Merriman added.

With his skill, experience, and leadership, Marco Bustos is set to reignite the Tridents’ attack as they aim for CPL glory in 2025.
